Growing pains, NewsNation, and a full room in Seattle

What a month. We got some big press, hosted our first Seattle event, and yes, hit a few bumps too.

Axios Charlotte ran a piece on us in July, and the response was bigger than we could have imagined. Our subscribers and Instagram followers doubled in under 48 hours. That kind of jump came with growing pains. Our servers weren’t ready for the traffic, and new users ran into bugs we hadn’t seen. We worked through them, and we want to say it out loud: thank you for sticking with us. Keep the feedback coming through the in-app feedback form or at support@bamdotcrack.com.

Marissa on NewsNation for International Mahjong Week

Marissa was interviewed on NewsNation’s Morning in America for International Mahjong Week. She talked about the game, how the four of us built the app, and what it means to bring American Mahjong to a mobile screen.

Our first Seattle event was a success

Our first Seattle event happened at The Collective on July 20. Over sixty of you came through, six tables ran at once, and the room stayed full and loud with the good kind of noise from start to finish. Big thanks to our teachers, Donna from The Mahjong Corner and Marilyn from UW Hillel’s mahjong group.

Where to play with a BDC co-founder

We spent August at tables around the country: Lauren hosted a live game in the app that anyone in the lobby could land in, Aishah played at Motor City Mahjong’s open play in Detroit, Gaby headed to Mahj & More at Camp Solomon Schechter, and Marissa joined Eastside Mahjong’s open play in Charlotte.
