The things people ask us most about Bam Dot Crack. Something missing? Email hello@bamdotcrack.com.
What is Bam Dot Crack?
Bam Dot Crack is a mobile app for playing American Mahjong, built on National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) rules. You can play with friends at a private table, join a live table with players from anywhere, or practice against bots. The name comes from the three suits: bams, dots and cracks.
Is Bam Dot Crack free?
Yes. Bam Dot Crack is free to download on the App Store and Google Play.
What devices does it work on?
iPhone, iPad and Android phones. On Apple devices it needs iOS or iPadOS 18.2 or later.
Can I play American Mahjong online with friends who live somewhere else?
Yes, that’s why we built it. The four of us are spread across three cities and couldn’t find a good way to play together. Set up a private Friends Table in the app and invite the people you play with, wherever they are.
Can I play with people I don't know?
Yes. Tap Live Table to join a ranked game with other players online. Live Tables use skill-based matchmaking and tournament-style scoring, and leaderboards run by day, week, month and year.
Can I practice on my own?
Yes. The AI Table lets you play against bots at easy, medium or hard levels, ranked or unranked. It’s a good place to learn the card or warm up before your weekly game.
Does it use the NMJL card?
Yes. Bam Dot Crack follows National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) rules. Upload your own NMJL card to the app and play with it right at the table. The 2025 and 2026 cards are supported.
Don’t have a card yet? Buy one directly from the NMJL.
I'm new to American Mahjong. Where do I start?
Bam Dot Crack is built for playing, so it doesn’t teach the game from scratch. If you know the basics, our 3-minute walkthrough shows you how to use the app: setting up a table, finding your card, sorting tiles and calling.
If you’re brand new, email us at hello@bamdotcrack.com and we’ll share our favorite places to learn American Mahjong online.
Rather learn in person? Many of our events include a beginner lesson from local teachers, and we partner with mahjong teachers and groups in the US and beyond. Wherever you live, send us a note and we’ll help you find a teacher close to home.
Where can I play American Mahjong in person?
We collaborate with local mahjong groups, including Eastside Mahjong in Charlotte and the Ann Arbor Mahjong Club, and we host some of our own events, like Mahjong Mondays at The Collective in Seattle. See upcoming events.
Is there a Spanish version?
It’s in the works. If you play in Spanish and want to help us get the wording, calls and details right, email hello@bamdotcrack.com.
Estamos trabajando en una versión en español de Bam Dot Crack. Si juegas en español y quieres ayudarnos a que las palabras, los cantos y los detalles queden bien, escríbenos a hello@bamdotcrack.com.
Who makes Bam Dot Crack?
Four friends from the University of Michigan: Aishah, Gaby, Lauren and Marissa. Here’s how it started.
How do I report a bug or send feedback?
